    Our 1” to 2” Differential Shafts are direct friction style differential shafts. With low tension and easy roll positioning, this shaft can fit cores from 1” to 2” diameters. It can also have face lengths up to 18” and is ideally suited for cores in ¼” increments.

    Features:
    The 1” to 2” Differential Shaft has three rows of external gripping elements at 120 degrees and able to slit rolls as narrow as 1/2″ wide. It features a multiple bladder design that is a vast improvement over previous air or mechanical designs. Our differential shaft does not have any weak journal connections since it is made entirely from one piece of solid steel. This kind of one piece design is capable of holding more weight with less deflection.

    You can expect extremely low friction from the abrasion- resistant elements with this shaft. We have placed the abrasion- resistant elements to impart sensitive resistance to the core ID. There are also expanders along the entire length of the shaft, which allows for one or multiple cores to be placed anywhere along the shaft at a time.

  • Our Continuous Lug Shaft is our most versatile and economical
    shaft type. It has multiple bladders to provide excellent grip at
    any diameter. This shaft also features our GripLock™ lug design that will not damage cores.

    Features:
    The Continuous Lug Shaft is for narrow to wide web shafts and can be designed with diameters from 1.5” to 16” and face lengths to 150”. Concentric and centered versions are available depending on your needs.

    It also has our GripLock™ Lug Design. These shafts are designed with floating lugs that secure rolls firmly. It also prevents cores from slipping. The GripLock™ Lug Design has increased the core gripping power of our Continuous Lug shaft to improve roll quality and reduce core damage, while keeping the shaft design efficient and effective. It is very easy to repair.

    Customization:
    Our Continuous Lug Shaft is custom designed to fit your specifications. The shafts can have a lightweight Aluminum or Steel bodies with Aluminum, Steel, or Urethane lugs. When placing an order for the continuous lug we ask that you specify whether you need a quote for the bored, double journal, cantilevered or flanged version so that we can make sure your shaft fits your needs and specifications.

    With our Differential Air Shaft, you are able to run multiple rolls on a single shaft while maintaining equal tension on all rolls. The internal differential slip allows for running rolls with a wide range of core sizes and types without using cones, core stops, or spacers. It also will not have any “wobble” or side to side movement. Our Differential Air Shaft is easy, safe, reliable and efficient to use.

    Features:
    With easily controlled tensions from under 0.15 PLI, it is able to wind multiple cores down to ½” width. It can also have face lengths up to 100” in 70mm – 10” Diameter.

    The Differential Air Shaft also has patented GlideLock™ Clutched Rollers that auto-lock to equalize tension on multiple width cores that can be placed anywhere on the shaft.  It features a bi-directional, internal clutching mechanism which actuates based on the location of each core on the shaft. When the shaft begins to rotate, the rollers under each core lock independently and apply tension to each individual core. As the material is wound onto the cores, the GlideLock™ Clutched Rollers self-adjust to ensure the correct tension. And slide bearings on each GlideLock™ Clutched Roller allow cores to slide on and off the shaft quickly and easily. Heavy, finished rolls slide effortlessly off the shaft and decrease load time.

    Our Lateral Motion Shafts are perfect for on-the-fly adjustments. Lateral adjustments can be made while the machine is running. The Lateral Motion Shaft is an economical alternative to more expensive web guide systems. They are the perfect shafts for printing presses, inspection machines, laminating stations, portable unwinds, and collators that support light loads and utilize webs of 30” and under.

    Features:
    The Lateral Motion Shafts are made with leaf or continuous lug expansion. They can be used for cantilever or flange mounted applications. These shafts are designed to make precision lateral adjustments with the adjustment knob. The adjustment knob moves the shaft in a 1” range of lateral movement to ensure alignment of rolls.

    The Lateral Motion Shaft can be designed with diameters from 70mm to 10” and face lengths up to 30”.

    The Convertech Leaf Air Shafts are recommended for use with thin walled cores and are well suited for thin wall or narrow cores. They can be used with thin-walled paper, steel, plastic, or fiber cores. Convertech’s Leaf Shafts are less expensive and lighter than our competitors’ leaf shafts.

    Features:
    Our Leaf Shafts are available in core diameters ranging from 1” to 6” and face lengths up to 150”. The Leaf Air Shaft can be designed in four styles: Small Diameter, Narrow Web, Wide Web, and Heavy Duty.  Fixed leaves are available on all styles to assure uniform expansion.

    Our Lug Shaft is heavy duty shaft with steel or aluminum bodies and lugs available. This shaft has our QuickChange™ Bladder Change Cartridge that allows you to change bladders in minutes with common hand tools.

    Features:
    Designed with the operator in mind, QuickChange™ Bladder Repair Cartridges are a unique feature of Convertech Lug Shafts. Each QuickChange™ Bladder Repair Cartridge is an all-inclusive repair part that can be kept in stock —much less expensively than the time lost during a typical lug shaft bladder repair. Using only common hand tools, such as pliers and hex wrenches, an operator can remove the old bladder cartridge, install, and position the replacement in a few minutes.

    No special banding tools or hydraulic presses are required. Ensure maximum uptime by keeping a spare bladder cartridge as a backup.

    The Convertech Mechanical Core Shaft is a narrow web shaft that expands mechanically with a continuous lug or leaf. These custom- made mechanical shafts expand concentrically with a wrench or knob and are available in several designs and mounting styles including double journal, cantilevered, and flanged. These shafts are suitable for high speed and high torque applications and are easy to repair.

    Features:
    The Mechanical Core Shaft features a simple turn-the-screw operation with no air required. The mechanical design assures concentric running of the cores and absolute roll centering. The mechanical design also helps the shaft operate under high speed and high tension conditions and require low maintenance.

    The Mechanical Core Shaft is available from 1” to 6” diameter and face lengths to 30” and has positive expansion and retraction to a consistent diameter.
