Convertech’s GripLock™ Lug design has increased core gripping power of our Conitnuous Lug shaft to improve roll quality and reduce core damage. It does this while keeping the Continuous Lug shaft design efficient and effective.

Continuous Lug type air shafts are the most popular and versatile of the gripping types. They are the most economical, easiest and quickest to repair. Convertech has lugs available in aluminum for light weight, steel for rough jobs, and urethane for metal or plastic cores. Convertech Continuous Lug shafts feature easy-to-repair components. There are no special banding tools or hydraulic presses required. Convertech Continuous Lug shafts feature a three-bladder system. Designed for medium to heavy-duty applications, Convertech Continuous Lug shafts feature many standard parts and are very easy to repair.

Small improvements can make a big impact. Because roll quality is a major concern to converters, keeping cores locked firmly in place is a high priority. Air pressure in the air shaft is responsible for locking the lug in place on the core, but excessive air pressure can cause core damage, and too little air pressure will cause core slippage. Finding the optimal point between air pressure and lug grip is essential to creating the best finished rolls.
