To remove bladder:

  1. Before you begin, release the air pressure from the shaft.
  2. Remove the end caps by loosening the screws securing them to the ends of the shaft.
  3. Tap out the sealing caps on both ends and remove the shims.
  4. Make sure to remove the shims from both ends
  5. Remove the lugs by sliding them out.
  6. Remove the bladders by sliding them out of the lug channel.
  7. Repeat this step for each lug on the shaft.

To replace bladder:

  1. Insert the first plug in one end of the bladder and slide the bladder into the channel
  2. Insert the first shim.
  3. Trim the bladder to be flush with the end of the shaft
  4. Insert the second plug and stretch the bladder into the channel
  5. Insert the lug and shims back into the shaft.

Leaf-Style O-Ring Bladder Replacement

To change the bladder on a leaf style O-Ring bladder style core holder:
1. Before you begin, release the air pressure from the shaft.
2. Remove all screws and snap rings to remove the end cap.
3. Remove the key from the shaft to allow removal of the compression ring.
4. Slide the leaves off the shaft to expose the bladder.
5. Carefully remove the o-ring from both ends.
6. Slide or cut the bladder off of the shaft.
7. Lubricate the new bladder and slide it on the shaft.
8. Replace the metal compression ring and o-ring on both ends.
9. Trim the bladder, making sure to keep the edge as straight as possible.
10. Finally, replace the leaves and end caps to complete the repair.

Leaf-Style Molded Bladder Replacement

  1. Before you begin, release the air pressure from the shaft.
  2. Remove all screws and snap rings to remove the end cap.
  3. Remove the o-rings from the leaf set.
  4. Slide the leaves off the shaft to expose the bladder.
  5. Remove the key from the shaft to allow removal of the compression ring.
  6. Slide or cut the bladder off the shaft.
  7. Lubricate the new bladder and slide it on the shaft ensuring it’s aligned with the ends of the shaft.
  8. Replace the leaves and end caps to complete the repair.

Air Roll Lock Differential Shaft assembly tip #1 – Removing roll locks

  1. Before you begin, release the air pressure from the shaft.
  2. Loosen the screws and remove the end cap.
  3. Using electrical tape, wrap the shaft tightly to prevent the inner cams and buttons from falling out.
  4. Slide the roll locks off of the shaft.
  5. You can also use this method to replace roll lock o-rings.

Air Roll Lock Differential Shaft assembly tip #2 – Shaft disassembly

  1. Before you begin, release the air pressure from the shaft.
  2. Begin by setting the shaft vertically, upright, to prevent pins from dropping out of the shaft.
  3. Loosen and remove end caps, and loosen the screws on the shaft end.
  4. Carefully remove the bladder assembly.
  5. You can also slide the roll locks off of the shaft.

  7. To reassemble, very carefully slide the bladder assembly back into the shaft.
  8. Align the bladder with the pilot hole and reassemble.

Small diameter shaft bladder replacement

  1. Before you begin, release the air pressure from the shaft.
  2. Mark the orientation of the pin hole for reference.
  3. Carefully remove the pin and slide out the stem.
  4. Slide or cut the bladder off of the shaft.
  5. Lubricate and slide new bladder on shaft.
  6. Secure the shaft in a padded vise.
  7. To secure the new bladder in place, carefully wrap both ends of the new bladder and tie off securely.
  8. Trim the excess string and excess bladder material.
  9. Slide stem back into the shaft and replace the pin.

Lug Shaft Bladder Removal

To remove bladder:

  1. Before you begin, inflate the air shaft to push out the lugs.
  2. Find the small hole in the middle of each lug. Slide an open paper clip through an opening to ensure the lugs don’t drop into the shaft when the bladder is removed.
  3. Release the air pressure from the shaft to prevent the journal from blowing out.
  4. Remove the journal screws and slide the journal out.
  5. Slide out the bladder assembly.
  6. Remove the screws from the end caps and remove the end caps.
  7. Remove the metal compression ring and o-ring from both ends.
  8. Slide or cut the bladder off the shaft.
